Santa Specials - come and meet Santa! Tickets Now On Sale
6th Dec 2020
Hooray - we can now announce that Santa will be with us again this year - and offering our Santa Special train rides. Tickets are now on sale via this web site.
Each service will feature a round trip on our one-mile railway hauled by our gallant steam Locomotive, Joyce who will be assisted by one of our diesel locomotives as it is a very steep climb away from Midsomer Norton South Station. All services will be in steam heated carriages.
Santa will be operating a little differently due to the Covid - 19 restrictions - Even Santa has to make sure he observes all the requirements of "safe distancing"
The good news is he will be joining us on your train ride and on your return to Midsomer Norton Station he will be pleased to have his photo taken with you and your family group on the platform.
Afterwards, Santa's helpers will make sure all the boys and girls receive their wrapped presents and a snack pack. For the Grown Ups refreshments will be served, including mulled wine, or fresh orange juice as preferred and quality mince pies. These will be hand made for us by Maggie's Country Kitchens of Chilcompton using their own mincemeat made with brandy and cider. (The recipie was formulated by Maggie's over 30 years ago)
The Santa Specials will be sanitised by Santa's Elves in between journeys and we will be ensuring that safe distancing is maintained.
This year you can book either one of the eight compartments in our Compartment Carriage, or one of the five grouped seats of four in our Open Carriage. For either option, your ticket price covers up to four people, in any combination of Adults and Children (a minimum of one adult must be in the party).
If you book a compartment you have the option of adding two further people (adults of children) to your compartment at an additional ticket price of £10.00 per person. This option is not available if you book four grouped seats in the Open Carriage. As in previous years, "babes in arms" can be carried at no extra cost and will receive a gift.
For those who choose our open carriage, family groups will be seated together and distanced from other groups - face coverings must be worn on the train as per government instructions for public transport. The exception to this requirement is if you have booked a compartment. Whilst in your compartment your face covering can be removed.
There is limited space in our 1950s style carriages so we ask that, where possible, pushchairs on not carried onto the train but left under the shelter on our platform where they will be safe
