Family Fun throughout August

4th August, 2026

August is here and its looking like a lovely sunny summer!

There is plenty happening at the station this month and hopefully we have something for everyone!

Every Wednesday the Wickham Trolley is running.  Enjoy a 20 minute ride along the length of the line on this restored Engineers trolley.  It carries just six passengers so booking is advised as it is a very popular ride. Please note the buffet will not be open on Wednesdays due to a lack of volunteers.

We are running a variety of trains and events on Sundays. On 9th August the DMU will be running a standard service. TRy to get the First Class seats (no extra charge!) behind the driver for a Drivers Eye View as we go up the incline out of the station.

Midsomer Summer returns on Sunday 16 August - our family fun day.  There will be magic shows and balloon modelling from Dave Hickory - he was really popular last year!  Music in the afternoon comes from the Paulton Ukulele Band.  There will be a beach area (sand pit & paddling pool) games area and stalls to try your skill.  You could win a prize on Hook-a-Duck, Splat the Rat or our Thomas the Tank Engine game.

Brake van rides on 23 August gives a change of feel.  Ride on the veranda of the Queen Mary brake van along the line, in the fresh air, with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. Look out for the deer in the woods.

August closes with the Teddy Bear's Picnic on the Bank Holiday Sunday 30 & Monday 31 August.  Children bringing their teddys (or other cuddly toy) are free and teddy can join in the fun.

For all events, tickets are Day Rovers aloowing you to travel on as many trains as you like subject to space.  We have also reduced the price of train tickets thanks to the governments summer reduced rate VAT.  Save even more by buying your tickets in advance.

We look forward to seeing you.
