Opening Times & Facilities Available

We'll reopen as soon as possible in accordance with Government advice. Keep an eye on this website for updates.

Toilets are available at the station. We do not have toilets on the trains.

We do not charge for car parking. However, parking is limited at the station. See our page 'Directions & Parking' for further information.

We have a range of food and drinks available - both hot and cold - in our station buffet coach - RMB - and the Mk3 buffet coach which is near to the Museum.

Dogs are welcome on the station site and on trains on most days. The exceptions are our Santas specials and our Real Ale Trains. We restrict access to dogs on some of our family events due to the large number of children present, some of whom may be scared of dogs.

Contact us to discuss what the railway can offer for school trips. Visits can be arranged to fit in with the national curriculum.

We have a strict No Smoking policy on all areas of the site, this includes platforms, trains, buildings, and the station car park. 

Access / Parking / Directions

Yes, you can access the shop and ticket office from the platform. We also have ramps to enable wheelchairs users to gain access to the trains.

There is a small number of disabled parking spaces available for visitors at the station.

Tickets & Sales

On completion of your order, you will be emailed a DigiTicket containing a barcode and a booking reference number.  Present this ticket on arrival, or if you don’t have a printer, please bring them on a smartphone

You may purchase tickets online or at the station on the day.

Children are those aged 4-16. Under 4s travel free (except on our Santa trains)

Yes, we accept all main credit cards, except for American Express.

Membership & Volunteering

You can download an application form to become a member of the Somerset & Dorset Railway Heritage Trust from the Membership page. If you are visiting us you can pick up a membership form from our shop. 

We are always looking to attract new volunteers. We hold an annual volunteers weekend every year - see the Events page.

Everyone is welcome, no matter what your skills, age, or how much time you have available to spare, we would love you to join us. Training is provided for several of the key roles undertaken by volunteers.

To become a volunteer, you will first need to become a member in order that you are insured for working on our site.
