6th Jul 2024
On Saturday July 6th and Sunday July 7th we'll once again be running our popular Wickham Weekender featuring two Wickham Trolleys - a different way to experience the restored line and great fun. We'll have our resident Type 27A (B 40W) and a welcome return of the smaller Type 8S (Works No. W4165) from the Vale of Berkeley Railway. There is some more information below on the background for both these fascinating vehicles.
Rides in our larger resident trolley will be along the full length of the line and will take place at 30 minute intervals from 10:30 am with the final run departing at 15:00. Each return trip takes approximately 20 minutes and starts and finishes in the station at Midsomer Norton. There are 2 ticket options - £5.00 for adults; £2.50 for children aged 4-16. Children aged 3 or under travel free. Tickets can be purchased online via this website or at the station on the day subject to availability.
Please note that the capacity of our resident Wickham Trolley is restricted to 6 in total per trip so your booking must not exceed this number (adults + children 4-16). Please also note that due to its size and restricted access there is no wheelchair access to the Wickham Trolley.
Bonus Trolley Ride! - Subject to availability your ticket also covers a trip on the smaller 8S trolley over a shorter length of track. We envisgae running this trolley regularly and according to demand throughout the day - please note the restriction on capacity below:
Type 8S trolley - one adult passenger only per trip in addition to the driver. We'll do our best to accommodate anyone wishing to have a ride in this unique & historic vehicle.
If you fancy another ride in the big trolley over and above your online booking then, subject to space availability, extra tickets can be purchased from the station shop on the day.
The station shop, buffet serving hot & cold drinks & snacks, and second hand Emporium will be open.
