1940s Weekend

The clock is being wound back to the 1940s for the first Bank Holiday weekend in May.  Join us Sunday and Monday for a Home Front experience at the station.

There will be some vehicles in attendance, along with displays telling the story of Britain in the 1940s.  The station will take on a period appearance and there will be re-enactors around the station.  On Sunday there will be a singer pefoming on the patio, and on Monday a comedienne.  And, of course, the trains will be running from 10.30 each day.

Home Guard Commemoration

In addition, there will be a commemoration of the Midsomer Norton Home Guard.  A plaque in honour of the Home Guard will be unveiled in the Pillbox at 11.00am by Colonel Steve Kendall MBE, Commandant of the Somerset Army Cadet Force.

Alan Readhead will also be at the station over the weekend.  Alan has done much research on the Midsomer Norton Home Guard, and has written a book on the subject which includes biogaphical profiles of 88 of the members.  He will be giving talks on both Sunday and Monday and signing copies of his book.  If you are interested in this part of Midsomer Norton history and meeting the author, this is something not to be missed.  Talks at 2pm Sunday & 11am & 2pm Monday.
