2026 Season Gets off to a Good Start

The 2026 season started on Easter Sunday, with the "new" 08 diesel shunter 08769 taking charge of the trains.  There was a slightly amended timetable in place, with trains running every 40 minutes, and a shortened lunch break.  This gave an extra train in both the morning and afternoon sessions, and seemed to go down well with passengers and volunteers alike.

Being Easter, trains were running both Sunday & Monday, and there was seasonal fun with an Easter Hunt for the children.  The children also needed to keep their eyes open as the Easter Bunny was also hopping around the station giving out sweets.

The following weekend was Locals Weekend - a chance to explore the station and ride the trains for half-price.  Plenty of people took up the offer to experience what the railway has to offer, and enjoy the sunshine.

If you missed these events, don't worry, there is plenty more to come this year starting with a Standard Running Day on Sunday 26th April, and then in May we have two special events.  On Sunday 3rd & Monday 4th there is the 1940s weekend, and then on Sunday 24th May, an event all the children will want to enjoy - Dinosaur Day.  Full details of both events can be found under Events & Experiences.

We look forward to welcoming you to the railway soon!
