Looking Back at 2025

Whilst there had been a number of events throught the year, the last couple of months of 2025 were the busiest!

The railway's two biggest events take place in the last quarter of the year, kicking off with the ever popular Halloween at the Station.  This year the event was split into two sessions - morning and afternoon - which allowed more people to join in the spooky fun.  The main attraction was the Haunted DMU, with ghouls ghosts and skeletons lurking amongst the cobwebs.  Those looking for a less scary ride, the Mark 1 coaches were also in service, with a number of children thinking they looked like the Harry Potter train. Children in Halloween fancy dress travelled free adding to the atmosphere.

Then after a beak of a few weeks, the railway opened for the festive season with the Santa Specials.  Following a train ride in the decorated Mark 1 coaches, the children returned to the station for a visit to Santa in his grotto.  Luckily all the children were on Santa's "nice list", so received a present.  Later whilst the adults were enjoying festive drinks and mince pies, the children also received a good bag.

The season came to an end on New Years Day, with the Mince Pie Specials.  The DMU was busy, with visitors enjoying the dry, if a bit chilly, weather and the chance to warm up in the RMB Buffet with a drink and mince pie.

We thank everyone for their support in 2025, and hope you enjoyed the railway and our special events.  We look forward to seeing you when we re-open at Easter with another excisting program of events.

We must not forget the volunteers, without whom none of this would be possible.  Thank you to them all for all their hard wok throughout the year.  Whilst the railway is closed for the winter, the work continues.  If you would like to help keep the railway alive, then email [email protected] or speak to a member of staff.
