Rolling Stock Changes
There have been a few changes taking place recently at Midsomer Norton.
Back in August, a BG (Braked Gangway) coach numbered S80972 arrived at the station. This is destined to be the new Emporium and home for the model railway. A group of volunteers are currently working on the interior of the coach, to make it ready for the 2026 season. For updates see our Facebook page.
In the autumn, a BCK (Braked Composite Corridor) coach numbered S21268 was purchased from the West Somerset Railway. This coach has seen sevice as the support coach for mainline steam locos, and is in a generally good condition. The uphostery in the coach is in a good condition, and it has two First Class compartments. A few modifications are taking place to make it ready for service at Midsomer Norton.
The latest aquisition is a Bar Car numbered S4055 which was once part of the Wessex Belle Dining Train at Swanage Railway. This coach arrived on 10th February, and will need some tidying up before it becomes the new buffet coach later this year. The coach is again in good condition, and will provide a flexible space for use both as the bufet and also for meetings and other events. More information on both coaches will be avialable shortly.
Elsewhere, D4095, the 08 shunter, has gone away for specialist repair, and will return to the railway in a few months.
