First use of Up Line at Midsomer Norton for standard passenger service
Sunday April 30th 2023 saw resident Class 107 Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) using the Up Line at Midsomer Norton - the first such movement for standard passenger services since re-opening of the line as a heritage railway. This follows work undertaken by the fabled Track Gang since early January to get the Up Line level and ballasted for use. Modifications to the signalling now permit routine use of the Up and Down Lines and platforms for passenger services and special events.
The main image with this news item shows the DMU returning to Midsomer Norton South station via the newly commisioned Up Line with the train about to pass the turn-out for the Somervale sidings - another project for the future!
