Line side clearance work at Midsomer Norton - Somervale land

The last weekend in May has seen teams of volunteers cutting down the spring growth on the Somervale land - 4 people on each day to keep within guidelines for social distancing. Our wheeled trimmer mower (more popularly known as the Mechanical Goat) was in use on Saturday but struggled with the long and tufty grass and had to be stood down. On Sunday the area was further cleared using brush cutters, slashers, and rakes - the mechanical goat was taken away at the end of the day for some much needed TLC. The volunteers also departed mid-afternoon for some liquid TLC as it was very warm on both days! The picture shows the cleared area on Sunday, May 31st with the sleepers retrieved from Brockenhurst prior to the restrictions in the foreground.
