Railway 200 - A Year Long Celebration

2025 sees the 200th Anniversary of the birth of the modern railway, with the opening of the Stockton & Darlington Railway.  Railway 200 is a year long celebration of this anniversary, and many heritage railways will be getting involved, including ourselves.

The aim is to start Railway 200 off as it should go on, by getting as many heritage railways involved as possible  by reviving an old tradition dating back the days of steam. The year will kick-off with an evocative ‘Whistle-Up’ of vintage locomotives at 12 noon on 1 January. The event is expected to take place on heritage railways across the U.K. and is being spearheaded by Heritage Railway Association members.

We will be joining in the Whistle-Up at Midsomer Norton with Uskmouth 1 steam loco and the DMU taking part.  Why not come along and witness this unique event.  This is also the final day of Uskmouth 1 steaming before returning to the Dean Forest Railway, so why not take the chance to enjoy a stam hauled ride towards Chilcompton.
