Family Weekend visitors enjoy trains and sunshine!

Warm and sunny weather over all 3 days helped to make our Family Weekend a great success so thank you to all our customers and volunteers for your support! We experienced a minor crisis due to our steam locomotive Joyce developing a steam leak the previous weekend so we were all worried that she might not be available to pull trains. Fortunately a local engineering firm produced a replacement for the damaged pipe and this was fitted on Friday - just a day before the start of the event - phew!

Thanks to Joyce being available we were able to run a mixture of steam and diesel hauled trains - all top and tailed - as planned. Some services were fully booked especially on Bank Holiday Monday. We also ran Wickham Trolley rides in the yard and there was a Treasure Hunt for children to enjoy. People could also look round the station site and visit the excellent museum located in the former stable block.
